Borrow my step-by-step protocol ready to convert social media comments into art sales

You may be feeling ICKY when you hear the word “sales.”

We’ve all been on the receiving end of a bad sales experience.

And we don't want to be CRINGE, lose followers, be rejected.

But what if I told you that Sales can actually be easy and fun?

What if instead you viewed SALES AS AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY?

Sales are an opportunity to

1. Engage with fans

2. Help customers find what they need

Instead, view sales as an opportunity to engage with your followers and chat them up!

You are engaging with your biggest fans who are excited to talk to an artist they admire!

Instead, View yourself as the HELPER!

You are assisting art buyers with the next step to purchase.

You are not bothering someone who commented on your post expressing interest in your art!

You are simplifying following up. That’s your job!

DOESN'T THAT FEEL SO MUCH BETTER! ?

Visualize yourself walking into a store.

Everything is gorgeous and full of gorgeous art that you would love to take home.

But the shop owner doesn't greet you, there's a pretentious feeling in the air, you’re interested and have questions, but you’re easily overwhelmed, and you just don't feel comfortable so you leave before even coming close to a purchase.

Now imagine if Taylor Swift owned this store.

If you've ever seen Taylor Swift accept an award…

Her mouth gaped open in shock…when she speaks you feel her positive energy radiating like a big warm hug

There's no one on the planet more gracious to her fans than the moment when Taylor Swift accepts an award

From day to day, Taylor is an artist who engages with as many fans as possible. And her fans feel really connected to her

She makes each one feel special.

If Taylor owned this store, You know she would be greeting every customer. Asking every customer “can I help you find something”

making everyone feel special. No fan would be left behind.

And every fan is going to leave with a purchase.

Because they absolutely love what Taylor’s art they just need to find something that suits them among all the options.

In your business, You're not going to be the grumpy, cold, disinterested store owner, you're going to be Taylor Swift.

Every fan is acknowledged and helped in the buying process.

Learn My Art Sales Script in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1: engage and pick a fave!

Step 2: connection and urgency

Step 3: close

Let’s dive into what each of those steps are and the exact process to close an art sale from your social comments.

Step 1: engage and pick a fave!

Begin a conversation while helping the art buyer narrow down options among your artwork collection

Example:

Buyer comments “I love your work!”

Imagine you’re Taylor Swift. Engaging with every single fan!! Confident and having fun!

You respond with “Thank you so much. What piece is your favorite?” (Be the welcoming voice! Engage with every customer!)

Ask open-ended questions to find out what they are thinking and narrow down options.

Open-ended questions cannot be answered in a yes or a no.

Student Example - Kim Coughlin

On her instagram, we see multiple comments from her audience, all positive and encouraging, ‘Love it! You are so talented Kim!’

Then you see a reply from him to each of these comments…

Kim is engaging with each customer in a timely manner.

Sometimes shes just saying thank you, sometimes more. but…

This lets customers know you are available to discuss their purchase questions!

Step 2: Connection and Urgency

Establish emotional connection (purpose-led) to inspire the buyer

Convey a sense of urgency

Remember from Step One you just asked the buy “What piece is your favorite?”

Example:

Buyer: “I like this one.”

You respond with “Me too! It’s my favorite piece because _______ (tell something unique about the art and tie it to your story/purpose). This artwork is one of a kind. Luckily, it is still available!”

For example: “I felt so nostalgic for Hawaii when creating this piece. All the raw materials in the artwork came from Hawaii where I first became an artist! It has such a serene quality. This artwork is one of a kind. Luckily, it is still available!”

Step 3: Close

State your price, then lead the customer to checkout in 1 step.

Example

Buyer: “How much?”

You respond with “It costs __. Here is the link to purchase.”

Sometimes you outright get comments like,

“I love this! How much?”

To which you can respond directly in the comments.

Otherwise, move the conversation to the DMS!

So you can have a one-on-one conversation and experience with the buyer.

A place where they can contact you privately anytime about other art they like.

How To Turn An Objection Into an Art Sale

The #1 Objection and how to Handle it

If the customer says “I love it, I can’t afford it.”

Rather than treating it as a “no,” treat it as an inquiry for more information!

Respond with: “What is your budget? I'd be happy to assist you with finding something you love in your price range.”

If it’s a “no” - no worries!

At this point if they say “no”, they are not the buyer for you right now.

They may buy from you later on. They still love your artwork. It’s not a personal rejection.

What matters is they had a positive interaction with you!

Be gracious and courteous, thank them for their interest.

You respond with: “Thank you so much for your interest in my artwork. It means the world to me!”

Sales are scary or… sales create more opportunities

You could be scared… or you could create MORE opportunities.

What is the worst that could happen?

If someone gets annoyed or unsubscribes? Great. Let them. They are not your ideal customer.

You are one step closer to creating a quality audience. Quantity does not matter.

Isn’t it exciting when you finally see how this all comes together?

Student Example - Lisa T. Marie

In just one 1 social post, Lisa sold several prints by these strategies.

In the Instagram comments, Lisa helps her customers with narrowing down their art selection by offering size options

Buyer: “Fantastic I need for my aptartment”

Lisa: “@buyer thank you! Please let me know if you have any questions about different print and size options (link to website)”

Buyer: “Hi! How may I purchase a LOVE print?”

Buyer: “I would LOVE a couple! I’ll reach out tomorrow”

Student Example - Kim Coughlin

Kim applied Secret #4 for big wins as well!

She says: “The art sales script was very helpful. I sold three paintings, one was very large. I also sold a bunch of notecards and postcards and have been commissioned to make notecards for the holidays. I used the sales script and vocabulary from the course to close these sales!”

She use the Sales Script to:

-Sell 3 paintings

-A bunch of notecards

-And sell a commission!

Student Example - Amy S.

AMY applied this strategy and she sold out her commissions 1 one social media post!

Isn’t she a rockstar?

This sales protocol really works!

You have to be brave to try it because you have nothing to lose.

View sales as an opportunity.

-View yourself as a helper, serving your customers

-You are simply helping your customer find what they need. You are making sure they feel important and welcome in your virtual store like Taylor Swift.

-Art buyers love to engage with you, too. Don't forget how cool it is to talk to an artist you admire.

-Don't take no’s personally.

-Be gracious and know customers will come back

If you were taking feverish notes and plan to re-listen to this episode, kudos to you because this podcast is not for listening it is for DOING

But I have something even better for you!

It’s perfect for visual learners who love note handouts.
